Calgary is home to over 10 great comic and collectibles hunting locations that should offer collectors of all types something of interest. Listed below are some spots that you'll want to check out if you're new to the city, or if you're looking for some new options to add to your weekly hunts.

Alpha Comics

Overview: Great selection of comic back issues with wall to wall boxes, along with some nice wall books and slabs available. Alpha also offers statues, figs and weekly pull list books for your comic collection. They have been open since 2012.

Another Dimension Comics

Overview: One of Calgary's biggest and best shops, especially if you like bigger statue pieces, slabs and key books and just about every weekly issue available. Well organized back-issues, lots of supplies on hand if you're looking for bags, boards and more, they have you covered. Another Dimension also has the giant 10ft Hulk statue in the middle of the shop.

Overview: Comiz-Kazi has you covered for comics and so much more. They moved to a new location in 2022 and have lots more space now with lots of modern back-issues, figures galore and then wall-to-wall products, including something for just about any collector out there. The staff are great here and super helpful.

Overview: Comic Traders offers a huge back-issue selection and if you're looking for variants, exclusives and slabs, then you're in luck here. They also have a fully dedicated Pop shop and a great online presence to make ordering from home easy. Traders also has an impressive collection of Star Wars toys, comic figures and some $1 bins if you feel like digging.

Cowtown Comics

Overview: While not a retail location, this Shopify based site for Calgary comics offers a good selection if your hunting those hard-to-find issue and some rare issues.

Crossroads Market (Purple Gorilla Comics + More)

Overview: If you like hunting for cool collectibles, comics and toys, then you have to go to Crossroads Market. While it's only open Fri-Sun, there is a lot to explore in here with a maze of small shops with boxes, shelves and walls packed with items that might catch your eye. Crossroads is also home to Purple Gorilla Comics, which is one of my all-time favourite locations in Calgary since the owner is super knowledgeable, always has fresh comics coming through and great deals to be had. If you're looking for Lego, Pokemon, coins, stamps or just about anything else, you'll find it in here. Here are just a few of the other locations inside Crossroads you'll want to check out:

Inside Avenue Antiques

Overview: 15000 sq feet of indoor retail packed with collectibles of all sorts. They have a few stalls dedicated to comics, pop culture, toys and other items if you're willing to wander through all of the areas. Also be sure to check out the shop right next to it, since they also have a good variety of items.

Nerd Pharmaceuticals

Overview: I have not yet checked this relatively new shop out but plan too soon. In the meantime, their online website seems to offer a lot of comic and fig options for purchase.

Pages Books On Kensington

Overview: While mainly a book store, with a ton of inventory, Pages also has a basement area with around 40-50 longboxes of $1 comics. This is a fun spot to kill an hour or more digging through random boxes and seeing what gems you can find!

Phoenix Comics NW

Overview: Phoenix Comics NW carries thousands of graphic novels of all genres, from Sandman and Maus to Spider-man and Batman to Saga and Walking Dead. They also specialize in Manga, and no one in the city has a better selection. The NW store is also the city's number one source for Magic the Gathering. The basement area has a small collection ono back-issue comics to dig through along with a good selection of figures and toys.

Phoenix Comic Books

Overview: Phoenix has one of the Calgary's largest collection of figures, model kits. They also have a 40+ longboxes of comic back-issues to keep you busy for hours, along with some cool music playing since it's also attached to Melody Music if you're also into collecting vinyl. You can't miss this shop on your Calgary comic adventures, and the giant mural of Silver Surfer on the side of the building makes it easy to spot.

Redd Skull Comics

Overview: Tucked away off of the hill on Edmonton Trail, Redd Skull has a lots of comics, figures and pops packed into the shop. You can also search their back-issues on their website and the owner here is great.

Overview: Another of Calgary's best shops for sure, Word & Pictures has back issues of rare comics and s very large collection of silver and golden age comic books. They also offer a decent selection of action figures and statues, including Living Dead Dolls™. If you're looking for any weekly comics, they've got you covered and also offer subscription services.
